Well, I guess I don’t have a lot of commentary on this last mission, although you have already read my biggest rant a few posts ago. Here are some photos:

There are little ponds like this all along the roadways. They look especially cool at sundown.

This is a panel painted during OIF I for the 1229th Transportation Company. We stop at this camp pretty frequently, and soldiers from the 243rd have been signing it because it is the only Maryland unit with a panel. I thought this was silly, since we are not in the 1229th, so I figured I would paint a panel for the 243rd, since nobody else was going to.

There was a half size panel to the left of the 1229th which would be perfect. I had to scramble to find paint, and all they could provide was latex paint in cans, and some nasty brushes that nobody ever cleaned. Most of these units are stationed at this camp, meaning that they have days or weeks to make their masterpeices. I had very limited supplies and even more limited time.

Just so you know, however long you think it will take you to paint a panel like this with a teeny tiny brush, multiply it by 4… It was not my intention to spend this much time on it, but I had to finish what I started.

This is almost the finished product. It’s also common form to list the officers and senior NCOs. There is space below for the troops to sign.

You can’t tell the difference, but this is actually a sunrise, not a sunset. Equally cool.

That’s about it. Hopefully in a few months I can show you the panel full of signatures from the 243rd.
